Context

In this case study, I led the design and implementation of the COVID-19 self-test feature on the EONMED app during the 2020 pandemic crisis. I crafted a user-friendly experience for at-home rapid testing, leveraging AI and Machine Learning for accurate results certified by ICMR standards.

 

This project demonstrates my commitment to innovative design and impactful solutions, contributing to accessible healthcare during challenging times.

Competition Analysis 

After a thorough message-mining of 112 reviews collected from the MyLab playstore & app store portals, I found 40 reviews relevant to the UI/UX of the app. Following were the insights gained from the same:

Product Definition

The COVID-19 self test enables the user to conduct a test by self at home. It functions through the medium of a rapid test kit.
This feature guides the user on how to conduct the test and provides results in 15 minutes of time using AI & Machine Learning powered results analyzer. It also certifies the user positive/ negative/ invalid based on their test results. Its an ICMR-approved feature.

Analysis

Among the many products that the IT solution firms went crazy over in the hit of the pandemic of 2020, many were just test kits that checked infection and immunity. I worked on 2 similar projects during COVID-19. This case study is for one of them named "EONbt kit" by the firm EONbt Private Ltd. 
These were rapid test kits that gave results in 15 minutes of time using AI & Machine Learning powered results analyzer.

The COVID-19 blood test cassettes analyzed and produced results through the Anti-Counterfeit Protected blockchain-based app that provided a digital test certificate linked to someone's Govt. ID.

I broke down the long form to 3 parts with a progress bar to provide user with the motivation and help they need to complete this important but lengthy task. 


Progress bars are the best form of motivation a user can have that keeps on pushing them to complete the task they came for by providing a status of how far they have come and how far is their destination. 

The 'Test for Member' button was added to help the user conduct a test for their family members as well. This is especially applicable to parents who might be doing it for their kids or the old ones in the family or in cases when the family has a limited number of mobile phones.

The Questionnaire allows us to collect user's medical history and is a very critical part of the funnel. It also allows collection easy first-party data. I had to make sure its a progressive and conversational process that keeps the heavy task engaging for users and they playfully fill it out without even feeling like they did a lot of work. 

Therefore, the chat format was used to make it a familiar as well as fun experience. 

The icons have been used to make sure that I don't make them think. The more time they take in understanding stuff, the tedious it gets. Use of visuals relevant to their answers has made it way easier for them to answer without thinking a lot.

The testing procedure is complex. 

There is a very detailed IFU that comes with the kit to explain the same.
But it was crucial to explain the procedure through the app in a visual easy to understand manner the following animations.

it will help user How to conduct the test more effectually and easily.
